Though categorized here under 'Other', Smirnoff Black Label is not a grape-based wine, but rather a historic and celebrated premium spirit. Its legacy dates back to the 1860s in Moscow, where Pyotr Arsenievich Smirnov founded his distillery and pioneered state-of-the-art charcoal filtration. The Black Label expression (No. 55) is crafted using a blend of select grains and is distilled in traditional copper pot stills alongside modern column stills. This specific production method, reminiscent of traditional batch distillation, gives the spirit a remarkably smooth, round texture, a slightly oily mouthfeel, and delicate hints of sweet grain and spice, distinguishing it from standard column-distilled spirits.

Smirnoff har rødder tilbage til 1864 i Moskva, hvor brandet blev grundlagt af Pjotr Arsenjevitj Smirnov. Han var en pioner inden for brugen af kulfiltrering for at opnå en hidtil uset renhed i vodka.
