Spier First Stone Organic Red is an organic red blend from the Coastal Region of South Africa, primarily sourced from Stellenbosch. The wine typically features a Bordeaux-style blend dominated by Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. The vines are grown in decomposed granite soils under maritime-influenced climatic conditions. Standard production involves organic viticulture, fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless steel or concrete vessels, and aging in French oak barrels for 16 to 18 months to develop structure and complexity.

Established in 1692, Spier is one of South Africa's oldest and most historic wine farms, located along the Eerste River in the heart of the Stellenbosch region. Under the stewardship of the Enthoven family since 1993, the estate marries its rich heritage with a progressive commitment to regenerative farming, biodiversity, and organic practices. Spier is celebrated for its diverse portfolio of expressive wines, most notably its acclaimed '21 Gables' range, which pays homage to the farm's historic Cape Dutch architectural heritage through exceptional single-varietal Chenin Blanc, Pinotage, and Cabernet Sauvignon. With a winemaking philosophy centered on minimal intervention, Spier consistently crafts elegant, terroir-driven wines that capture the unique maritime-influenced climate of the Coastal Region.
