🍷 Vintage Profile
The 2025 growing season in the Coastal Region was characterized by adequate winter rainfall followed by moderate spring temperatures, which facilitated uniform budbreak and healthy canopy establishment without excessive disease pressure. Mild conditions throughout early summer and consistent maritime breezes moderated ripening, allowing early-picked parcels of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir to retain crisp natural malic acidity and vibrant, delicate red berry aromatics. Harvest proceeded smoothly under temperate, dry weather, preserving pristine fruit purity and phenolic restraint optimal for un-oaked rosé vinification. Fresh and expressive on release, this vintage is primed for immediate consumption and will show at its peak through 2027.

✨ Technical Specifications
Combining the structural backbone of Chardonnay with the gentle red fruit and pale salmon hue of Pinot Noir, this dry rosé style is harvested across selected cool-climate maritime maritime sites in the Western Cape. Grapes undergo gentle whole-cluster or destemmed pressing with brief skin contact to extract delicate color without harsh phenolics. Fermentation is carried out in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks to maintain pristine aromatics and brisk natural acidity, followed by brief aging on fine lees to introduce subtle mid-palate texture before bottling un-oaked.
🍾 About the Producer
Established in 1692 along the banks of the Eerste River in Stellenbosch, Spier is one of South Africa's oldest wine farms. Acquired in 1993 by the Enthoven family, the estate has transformed into a benchmark of ecological stewardship, operating under certified organic viticulture and holistic regenerative farming. The vineyards thrive on decomposed granite, Table Mountain sandstone, and alluvial loam, benefiting from cooling maritime breezes off False Bay. Spearheaded by managing director Frans Smit and cellar master Johan Jordaan, the winemaking philosophy balances non-interventionist, terroir-driven cellar practices with precise modern craftsmanship. Renowned for its versatility and focus on classic Cape cultivars, Spier's portfolio is anchored by benchmark whites, notably its acclaimed Chenin Blanc expressions—ranging from the vibrant, fruit-forward Signature Collection to the sophisticated, barrel-fermented 21 Gables and Creative Block bottlings—alongside low-intervention organic cuvées.
