β¨ Technical Specifications
The Spier Signature Chenin Blanc is a classic representation of South Africa's most widely planted grape variety, sourced from selected vineyards across the Western Cape. The region's diverse soils, ranging from decomposed granite to shale, combined with cooling coastal breezes, contribute to the grape's natural acidity and fruit concentration. Vinification is typically carried out in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks to preserve the primary fruit aromas of guava, pear, and green apple. The wine is kept on its fine lees for a brief period post-fermentation to enhance texture and mouthfeel without the influence of oak.
πΎ About the Producer
Established in 1692 in Stellenbosch, Spier is one of South Africa's oldest and most historically significant wine farms, celebrated for its Cape Dutch architectural heritage boasting twenty-one historic gables. Acquired and revitalized in the 1990s by the Enthoven family, the estate has evolved into a global leader in regenerative agriculture, ethical sustainability, and community-centered viticulture. Sourcing fruit from prime terroirs across Stellenbosch and the greater Coastal Region, Spier crafts a versatile portfolio ranging from vibrant, everyday varietals to complex, award-winning cuvΓ©es. The estate is particularly renowned for its acclaimed '21 Gables' single-varietal expressions of Chenin Blanc, Pinotage, and Cabernet Sauvignon, alongside its innovative, terroir-driven 'Creative Block' blends.
