Suntory's Special Reserve is a historic landmark in Japanese spirits, first introduced in 1969 to celebrate the company's 70th anniversary. Crafted with the meticulous blending philosophy pioneered by Shinjiro Torii and refined by successive generations of Master Blenders, this expression is celebrated for its elegant complexity. At its heart lies key malt whiskies from the Hakushu distillery, nestled deep in the forests of Mount Kaikoma, which impart a signature crispness, vibrant green fruit notes, and a whisper of gentle peat smoke. Balanced with select malts from Yamazaki, the liquid is matured primarily in American white oak casks, resulting in a smooth, creamy texture with notes of vanilla, orchard fruits, and a subtle herbaceous finish. This bottling represents a bridge between traditional Scottish techniques and the distinct, nature-inspired aesthetic of Japanese whisky-making.

Suntory blev grundlagt i 1899 af Shinjiro Torii i Osaka, Japan. Huset startede oprindeligt som en beskeden vinhandel, men revolutionerede siden drikkevareverdenen, da de i 1923 grundlagde Yamazaki Distillery og dermed banede vejen for autentisk japansk whisky.
