This highly collectible release from Suntory features their classic Old Whisky blend, bottled to commemorate the opening of the Joetsu Shinkansen high-speed rail line in 1982. Suntory Old Whisky, first introduced in 1950, is a historic cornerstone of Japanese spirits culture, traditionally nicknamed Daruma for its round, dark bottle resembling the Zen Buddhist doll. This special commemorative edition, often housed in a decanter shaped like the iconic bullet train, represents a unique intersection of Japanese industrial pride and spirits craftsmanship. The blend itself is celebrated for its smooth, medium-bodied profile, featuring sweet malt, vanilla, and subtle peat notes, reflecting Suntory's traditional Yamazaki-led blending style.

Suntory blev grundlagt i 1899 af Shinjiro Torii i Osaka, Japan. Huset startede oprindeligt som en beskeden vinhandel, men revolutionerede siden drikkevareverdenen, da de i 1923 grundlagde Yamazaki Distillery og dermed banede vejen for autentisk japansk whisky.
