Suntory Old Whisky, first introduced in 1950, is an iconic pillar of Japanese whisky history, affectionately nicknamed 'Daruma' for its distinctive round, black bottle resembling the traditional Zen wishing doll. The 'Silver Label' (often designated as 'Very Rare') is a highly sought-after historical bottling from the late 20th century, representing a golden era of Japanese blending. Crafted primarily from malt whiskies distilled at the historic Yamazaki and Hakushu distilleries, and balanced with high-quality grain whiskies, this blend was aged in a combination of casks, including Spanish oak sherry butts and native Mizunara oak. It delivers a rich, harmonious profile characterized by dried dark fruits, sweet vanilla, subtle peat smoke, and a delicate touch of sandalwood spice, capturing the traditional Japanese art of 'Wa' (harmony).

Suntory blev grundlagt i 1899 af Shinjiro Torii i Osaka, Japan. Huset startede oprindeligt som en beskeden vinhandel, men revolutionerede siden drikkevareverdenen, da de i 1923 grundlagde Yamazaki Distillery og dermed banede vejen for autentisk japansk whisky.
