Suntory's 'Royal' blend was first introduced in 1960 to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the company's founding. It holds a legendary status as the final blend masterminded by Shinjiro Torii himself, representing the culmination of his lifelong quest to craft a spirit tailored to the refined Japanese palate. The bottle's distinctive silhouette is inspired by the traditional Torii gate standing at the entrance to the Yamazaki Distillery's Shinto shrine, while the stopper resembles the roof of the shrine. This historic blend brings together mature malt whiskies from Yamazaki and Hakushu with high-quality grain whiskies, resulting in a rich, complex profile featuring notes of dried fruit, honey, subtle peat, and Japanese oak (Mizunara).
