The Taittinger Collection was conceived in the late 20th century by Claude Taittinger, who sought to bridge the worlds of fine art and exceptional Champagne. For this highly collectible release, the house commissioned the renowned French-American artist Arman, famous for his 'accumulation' artworks. Arman designed the bottle for the 1981 vintage (released in 1985), wrapping it in a striking visual tribute of golden violins that represents the harmony between music and the blending of fine wine. The liquid inside is a prestigious vintage Champagne sourced from Grand and Premier Cru vineyards, aged for several years in Taittinger's historic Gallo-Roman chalk cellars to achieve a perfect balance of freshness, complexity, and rich autolytic character. It remains a legendary marriage of avant-garde art and traditional cellar mastery.

Tracing its foundations back to 1734 when the original house was established by Jacques Fourneaux, Champagne Taittinger took its modern identity in 1932 under the visionary leadership of Pierre Taittinger. Headquartered in Reims within the historic Champagne region of France, the family-owned house matures its finest cuvées inside UNESCO-listed Gallo-Roman chalk caves beneath the ancient Abbey of Saint-Nicaise. Taittinger is distinguished by its defining reliance on Chardonnay, crafting champagnes celebrated for their elegance, minerality, and delicate aromatics. The house's supreme expression is the iconic Comtes de Champagne Blanc de Blancs, a benchmark vintage champagne produced exclusively from top Grand Cru vineyards in the Côte des Blancs.
