✨ Technical Specifications
Taittinger's Comtes de Champagne Rosé is a legendary prestige cuvée that pays homage to the Counts of Champagne, particularly Thibaud IV, who legend says brought the ancestor of Chardonnay back from the Crusades. Produced only in exceptional vintage years, this rare rosé is crafted using Grand Cru grapes, combining the finesse of Chardonnay from the Côte des Blancs with the structure of Pinot Noir from the Montagne de Reims. A small percentage of Pinot Noir is vinified as still red wine from the acclaimed terroirs of Bouzy to impart its celebrated deep copper-pink hue and complex red fruit character. The wine undergoes extensive aging—often up to a decade—deep within the house's historic, UNESCO-classified Gallo-Roman chalk cellars (crayères), resulting in a Champagne of sublime complexity, silky texture, and vibrant mineral precision.
🍾 About the Producer
Tracing its foundations back to 1734 when the original house was established by Jacques Fourneaux, Champagne Taittinger took its modern identity in 1932 under the visionary leadership of Pierre Taittinger. Headquartered in Reims within the historic Champagne region of France, the family-owned house matures its finest cuvées inside UNESCO-listed Gallo-Roman chalk caves beneath the ancient Abbey of Saint-Nicaise. Taittinger is distinguished by its defining reliance on Chardonnay, crafting champagnes celebrated for their elegance, minerality, and delicate aromatics. The house's supreme expression is the iconic Comtes de Champagne Blanc de Blancs, a benchmark vintage champagne produced exclusively from top Grand Cru vineyards in the Côte des Blancs.
