Taittinger's prestige cuvée, Comtes de Champagne Blanc de Blancs, is a legendary expression of Chardonnay, first created in the 1952 vintage to honor the medieval Counts of Champagne. According to local lore, Count Thibaud IV brought back the legendary ancestor of the Chardonnay grape from the Crusades. Crafted exclusively from 100% Grand Cru Chardonnay vineyards in the Côte des Blancs—including Avize, Chouilly, Cramant, Mesnil-sur-Oger, and Oger—this wine represents the pinnacle of elegance. Only the first-press juice is used, and a small portion of the blend is matured in oak casks to add subtle complexity. The wine then undergoes a slow, patient maturation for up to a decade deep within the house's UNESCO-listed Gallo-Roman chalk cellars before disgorgement, resulting in a masterpiece of tension, mineral precision, and creamy richness.

Tracing its foundations back to 1734 when the original house was established by Jacques Fourneaux, Champagne Taittinger took its modern identity in 1932 under the visionary leadership of Pierre Taittinger. Headquartered in Reims within the historic Champagne region of France, the family-owned house matures its finest cuvées inside UNESCO-listed Gallo-Roman chalk caves beneath the ancient Abbey of Saint-Nicaise. Taittinger is distinguished by its defining reliance on Chardonnay, crafting champagnes celebrated for their elegance, minerality, and delicate aromatics.
