Talisker's 25 Year Old bottled in 2005 as part of Diageo's prestigious annual Special Releases is a legendary expression of the Isle of Skye's rugged, wind-swept terroir. Distilled in the late 1970s, this malt matured for a quarter of a century in a combination of refill American and European oak casks before being bottled at a natural cask strength of 57.2% ABV. The distillery's unique U-shaped wash stills and traditional wooden worm tubs—which limit copper contact—impart a heavy, oily texture that beautifully carries Talisker's signature maritime character. This expression is celebrated for its complex interplay of sweet peat smoke, sea spray, old leather, and a trademark warming black pepper finish, capturing the untamed spirit of the Scottish coast.
