Distilled on the rugged shores of the Isle of Skye, this expression has spent three decades maturing in refill American and European oak casks, absorbing the salty sea breezes of the Atlantic. The distillery's unique U-shaped wash stills and traditional wooden worm tubs impart an oily, heavy spirit that, over thirty years, softens into an incredibly complex elixir. Talisker blev grundlagt i 1830 af brødrene Hugh og Kenneth MacAskill ved de vindblæste bredder af Loch Harport i Carbost og er det ældste aktive destilleri på Isle of Skye.
