✨ Technical Specifications
Talisker Port Ruighe, pronounced 'Portree', is a captivating single malt that pays homage to the intrepid Scottish merchants who braved treacherous seas to trade with Portugal, bringing back rich Port casks. This expression combines the rugged, windswept maritime character of the Isle of Skye with the sweet, velvety warmth of the Douro Valley. Double-matured in deeply charred ruby port casks, it weaves Talisker's signature peat smoke, brine, and fiery black pepper with luscious notes of dark plum, ripe red berries, and rich cocoa. The traditional wooden worm tubs of the distillery impart an oily, full-bodied texture that beautifully carries this complex interplay of smoke and sweet fruit.
🍾 About the Producer
Founded in 1830 by brothers Hugh and Kenneth MacAskill on the windswept shores of Loch Harport in Carbost, Talisker is the oldest operating distillery on the Isle of Skye. The distillery is celebrated for its unique distillation setup, featuring swan-neck wash stills and traditional outdoor worm tubs, which impart a signature maritime and volcanic intensity to the new-make spirit. Today part of Diageo's Classic Malts portfolio, Talisker maintains an uncompromising dedication to crafting robust, peated single malt Scotch whiskies. Its flagship style is revered across the globe for its harmonious interplay of coastal salinity, rich peat smoke, dried fruit richness, and an unmistakable fiery black pepper finish.
