This legendary release, bottled under Gordon & MacPhail's enigmatic 'Secret Stills' series as edition 1.1, is a magnificent 50-year-old single malt distilled on the Isle of Skye in 1955. While bottled under a pseudonym to respect distillery agreements, Skye's sole historic distillery of that era is Talisker, making this an incredibly rare expression of their spirit. Distilled during a golden post-war era of traditional floor maltings and coal-fired stills, this whisky slumbered for half a century in oak casks before being unveiled in 2005. It represents a liquid time capsule of Skye's rugged maritime terroir, capturing a bygone era of production. The long maturation has softened the distillery's signature fiery pepper and intense peat smoke into an incredibly complex tapestry of old leather, beeswax, dried tropical fruits, gentle coastal brine, and a delicate, lingering peat smoke.

Founded in 1830 by brothers Hugh and Kenneth MacAskill on the windswept shores of Loch Harport in Carbost, Talisker is the oldest operating distillery on the Isle of Skye.
