This legendary expression represents a golden era of distilling on the Isle of Skye. Before the introduction of the iconic 10 Year Old in 1988, the 8 Year Old was Talisker's flagship malt. Bottled in the 1970s at 80 proof, this bottle contains spirit distilled during the 1960s, a period when Talisker still utilized floor maltings and coal-fired stills until 1972. Known affectionately as 'The Golden Spirit of the Isle of Skye,' this historic single malt is celebrated for its intense, old-school maritime character, combining heavy peat smoke, coastal brine, and a distinct waxy texture derived from the distillery's traditional wooden worm tubs. Founded in 1830 by brothers Hugh and Kenneth MacAskill on the windswept shores of Loch Harport in Carbost, Talisker is the oldest operating distillery on the Isle of Skye.
