✨ wine.spec_sheet

Tedeschi's Capitel Monte Fontana is a legendary sweet red Recioto della Valpolicella Classico, representing the ancient winemaking soul of the Veneto. The Tedeschi family, with a heritage dating back to 1630, crafts this wine from the Monte Fontana vineyard, situated on clay-limestone soils in the hills of Pedemonte. The name 'Capitel' pays homage to the traditional stone shrines that dot the local landscape. Made primarily from Corvina, Corvinone, and Rondinella grapes, the fruit undergoes 'appassimento'—drying on racks for several months to concentrate sugars and flavors before a slow fermentation and aging in Slavonian oak. This historic technique yields a wine of extraordinary depth, balancing luscious sweetness with vibrant acidity and velvety structure.

🍾 wine.about_producer

Established in 1824 when Nicolò Tedeschi purchased his first vineyards, the Tedeschi estate is located in Pedemonte, in the heart of the Valpolicella Classico region of Veneto, Italy. Owned and managed by the Tedeschi family for generations, the winery is highly respected for its commitment to terroir-driven research, clonal selection, and the traditional appassimento grape-drying process. They are particularly renowned for pioneering single-vineyard Amarone wines, most notably from the iconic Monte Olmi vineyard acquired in 1918. Their exceptional portfolio includes acclaimed expressions like the Marne 180 Amarone, the elegant Maternigo, and the historic Capitel Monte Olmi Riserva, representing the pinnacle of Valpolicella winemaking.
