The Capitel Monte Olmi Riserva is a landmark in the history of Valpolicella, representing one of the region's very first single-vineyard cru Amarones, first crafted by Renzo Tedeschi in 1964. Sourced from the iconic, steeply terraced Monte Olmi vineyard in Pedemonte, this wine is rooted in clay-limestone soils rich in rock fragments. The Tedeschi family employs the traditional appassimento method, drying a blend of Corvina, Corvinone, Rondinella, and Oseleta grapes on bamboo racks for several months to concentrate their sugars, acids, and flavors. Following a slow fermentation, the wine undergoes extensive aging in Slavonian oak casks for up to four years. This patient process yields a majestic, full-bodied red characterized by intense aromas of dried dark cherries, plums, cocoa, tobacco, and balsamic undertones, balanced by a robust structure and vibrant acidity.
