✨ wine.spec_sheet

The Maternigo estate, acquired by the historic Tedeschi family in 2006, represents a modern pinnacle of terroir-driven viticulture in the eastern hills of Valpolicella, near Tregnago. The name Maternigo translates to 'land of the mother,' hinting at its ancient origins as a place of sanctuary and fertility. Here, the Tedeschi family undertook a rigorous soil mapping project to identify the finest parcels, such as the steep 'Impervio' vineyard. The soils are dominated by white marl and limestone, which impart an extraordinary mineral tension and vibrant acidity to the grapes. Crafted from a classic blend of Corvina, Corvinone, and Rondinella, this wine undergoes careful selection and aging in Slavonian oak casks. The result is a wine of profound depth, marrying dark cherry and wild berry notes with elegant herbal undertones, refined tannins, and a signature savory finish that reflects its unique high-altitude birthplace.
