The story of the Pecorino grape is deeply intertwined with the pastoral history of Abruzzo. Legend has it that the variety owes its name to the sheep (pecore) that undertook the seasonal transhumance migration; these animals would eagerly snack on the sweet, early-ripening grapes as they passed through the hillside vineyards. Once nearly forgotten, this resilient grape has experienced a triumphant renaissance. Grown in the clay-limestone soils of Chieti, where the cooling influence of the Adriatic Sea tempers the warm Italian sun, the 2024 vintage showcases the grape's signature high natural acidity and intense mineral spine. Vinified entirely in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks to prevent oxidation, this wine captures the pure essence of the grape, offering a vibrant bouquet of white peach, citrus blossom, and a distinct saline finish born from its maritime-influenced terroir.
