Trapiche's Gran Medalla range was originally conceived to celebrate the winery's landmark 120th anniversary, showcasing the heights of Argentine viticulture. This Chardonnay is crafted from carefully selected high-altitude vineyards in the Uco Valley, primarily within the cool-climate sub-region of Tupungato. Here, the intense Andean sunshine combined with cold mountain nights allows the Chardonnay grapes to ripen slowly, retaining a vibrant natural acidity. The wine is fermented and aged in French oak barrels with regular lees stirring (bâtonnage), which imparts a luxurious, creamy texture and subtle notes of toasted brioche and vanilla, beautifully framing the wine's core of fresh pear, citrus, and mineral undertones.

Founded in 1883 by Tiburcio Benegas, Trapiche is one of Argentina's oldest and most pioneering wineries, located in the Maipú department of Mendoza. Operating from a historic, beautifully restored Florentine-style winery built in 1912, the estate is celebrated for introducing French grape varieties and modern viticultural techniques to the region. Under the guidance of renowned winemakers, Trapiche focuses on expressing the diverse terroirs of Mendoza—ranging from high-altitude Andean vineyards to their pioneering coastal estate in Chapadmalal, Buenos Aires. The winery is globally acclaimed for its exceptional Malbecs, particularly its Single Vineyard series, as well as elegant expressions of Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, and Pinot Noir.
