The 'Perfiles' series by Trapiche is a masterclass in terroir exploration, specifically designed to showcase how different soil profiles shape the character of Mendoza Malbec. The 'Calcareo' expression is sourced from high-altitude vineyards in the Uco Valley, where the soils are heavily laden with calcium carbonate (limestone) coated gravels. This calcareous soil, combined with the intense alpine sunlight and cool nights of the Andes, yields a Malbec of extraordinary tension and mineral drive. Unlike the plush, jammy profiles often associated with lower-elevation Mendoza, this wine is characterized by its chalky, fine-grained tannins, vibrant acidity, and a distinct flinty minerality that frames the deep blackberry and wild floral notes.

Founded in 1883 by Tiburcio Benegas, Trapiche is one of Argentina's oldest and most pioneering wineries, located in the Maipú department of Mendoza. Operating from a historic, beautifully restored Florentine-style winery built in 1912, the estate is celebrated for introducing French grape varieties and modern viticultural techniques to the region. Under the guidance of renowned winemakers, Trapiche focuses on expressing the diverse terroirs of Mendoza—ranging from high-altitude Andean vineyards to their pioneering coastal estate in Chapadmalal, Buenos Aires. The winery is globally acclaimed for its exceptional Malbecs, particularly its Single Vineyard series, as well as elegant expressions of Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, and Pinot Noir.
