Hailing from the high-altitude heights of Gualtallary in the Uco Valley, Trapiche's Terroir Series 'Finca El Tomillo' Chardonnay is a masterclass in mountain viticulture. The vineyard sits at an impressive 1,250 meters above sea level, where intense solar radiation is balanced by cool alpine nights. The vineyard gets its name, 'El Tomillo,' from the wild thyme bushes that carpet the surrounding landscape, whispering their subtle herbal aromas into the grapes. Grown in alluvial soils rich in calcium carbonate, this single-vineyard Chardonnay is fermented and aged in French oak barrels. The result is a wine that beautifully marries the rich, textured legacy of Burgundian-style winemaking with the fierce, mineral-driven tension unique to Mendoza's extreme high-altitude terroirs.

Founded in 1883 by Tiburcio Benegas, Trapiche is one of Argentina's oldest and most pioneering wineries, located in the Maipú department of Mendoza. Operating from a historic, beautifully restored Florentine-style winery built in 1912, the estate is celebrated for introducing French grape varieties and modern viticultural techniques to the region. Under the guidance of renowned winemakers, Trapiche focuses on expressing the diverse terroirs of Mendoza—ranging from high-altitude Andean vineyards to their pioneering coastal estate in Chapadmalal, Buenos Aires. The winery is globally acclaimed for its exceptional Malbecs, particularly its Single Vineyard series, as well as elegant expressions of Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, and Pinot Noir.
