Tyrrell's Mother's Vineyard Shiraz is a heartfelt tribute to the family's matriarchs and the unique terroir of the Hunter Valley. Sourced from the historic Mother's block, which was planted in 1969 on the sandy loam soils of the Ashmans property, this wine represents the classic, medium-bodied style of traditional Hunter Valley Shiraz. Unlike the heavier, more robust Shiraz styles found in warmer Australian regions, the Mother's Vineyard Shiraz is celebrated for its bright red fruit profile, savory complexity, and earthy undertones. The grapes are gently fermented in open vats before being matured in large, older French oak casks to preserve the pure expression of the fruit and the distinct sense of place. This traditional approach yields a wine of exceptional elegance, balance, and seamless structure, carrying forward a legacy of minimal intervention winemaking.

Tyrrell's blev grundlagt i 1858 af den engelske immigrant Edward Tyrrell og er et af Australiens mest traditionsrige vindynastier samt et toneangivende medlem af Australia's First Families of Wine. Ejendommen ligger smukt for foden af Brokenback Range i Pokolbin-underdistriktet i Hunter Valley. Her råder vinhuset over nogle af verdens mest sjældne, rodægte vinstokke, ikke mindst de historiske parceller kendt som Sacred Sites, hvor de ældste er plantet så tidligt som 1867 og 1879. Markarbejdet tager udgangspunkt i bæredygtig forvaltning af de ældgamle alluviale sletter og forvitrede ler- og mergeljorde under et varmt, maritimt præget subtropisk mikroklima. I vinkælderen forenes traditionelle metoder, neutrale egetræsfade og minimal intervention for at værne om renhed, vitalitet og terroirpræg. Tyrrell's ikoniske portefølje nyder stor international anerkendelse for især Vat 1 Hunter Semillon – en rank, ufadebetonet hvidvin berømt for sit enestående lagringspotentiale. Dertil kommer Vat 47 Chardonnay, som bredt anerkendes for at have banet vejen for australsk Chardonnay af kommerciel topklasse, samt de enestående, mellemfyldige Shiraz-vine Old Patch og Vat 9.
