Tyrrell's 'Old Patch' Shiraz is sourced from a historic block of vines planted in 1867, making it one of the oldest continually producing, own-rooted vineyards in the world. Located in the Pokolbin sub-region of the Hunter Valley, these ancient, dry-grown vines thrive on a strip of rich, red volcanic basalt soil. The wine is a testament to traditional Hunter Valley winemaking, fermented in open-top oak vats and matured in large, older French oak casks (foudres) to allow the unique terroir and pure fruit expression to shine without being overshadowed by new wood. This legendary bottling is celebrated for its medium-bodied elegance, remarkable savory complexity, and silky tannins, representing a living piece of global viticultural history.

Founded in 1858 by Edward Tyrrell, Tyrrell's is one of Australia's oldest and most prestigious family-owned wineries, nestled against the Brokenback Range in the Hunter Valley of New South Wales. Spanning five generations of family stewardship, the estate played a seminal role in shaping modern Australian viticulture, including pioneering the country's first commercial Chardonnay with the legendary Vat 47 in 1971.
