The Special Release Shiraz from Tyrrell's represents a contemporary exploration of the Hunter Valley's historic terroir. Sourced from select parcels of premium vineyards, including some of the estate's cherished dry-grown blocks, this wine is crafted to highlight the vibrant, fruit-forward, and savory character unique to New South Wales' premier wine region. Unlike the heavier, high-alcohol Shiraz styles found in hotter Australian regions, Tyrrell's Hunter Valley Shiraz is celebrated for its medium-bodied elegance, bright red fruit profile, and subtle white pepper spice. The winemaking team employs traditional open-top fermenters and matures the wine in large, older French oak casks to preserve the pure expression of the fruit and the distinctive earthy, leather-tinged complexity that develops naturally in the Hunter's volcanic and sandy loam soils.

Founded in 1858 by Edward Tyrrell, Tyrrell's is one of Australia's oldest and most prestigious family-owned wineries, nestled against the Brokenback Range in the Hunter Valley of New South Wales. Spanning five generations of family stewardship, the estate played a seminal role in shaping modern Australian viticulture, including pioneering the country's first commercial Chardonnay with the legendary Vat 47 in 1971.
