✨ Technical Specifications
While Tyrrell's is globally renowned for its iconic single-varietal Vat 1 Semillon, the estate also applies its historic blending expertise to the classic Australian white blend of Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon. The 'Vat' nomenclature pays homage to the historic cellars in Pokolbin, where the Tyrrell family has crafted wine since 1858. In this style, the structure, piercing acidity, and longevity of Hunter Valley Semillon are complemented by the bright, aromatic lift of Sauvignon Blanc. Sourced from vineyards in the Hunter Valley, the wine reflects the region's unique sandy loam soils and warm, maritime-influenced climate. It is crafted to highlight fresh, vibrant fruit character without oak influence, offering a beautifully balanced, crisp, and refreshing expression of the estate's white winemaking heritage.
🍾 About the Producer
Founded in 1858 by Edward Tyrrell, Tyrrell's is one of Australia's oldest and most prestigious family-owned wineries, nestled against the Brokenback Range in the Hunter Valley of New South Wales. Spanning five generations of family stewardship, the estate played a seminal role in shaping modern Australian viticulture, including pioneering the country's first commercial Chardonnay with the legendary Vat 47 in 1971. The winery remains dedicated to traditional, minimal-intervention winemaking and the preservation of historic, own-rooted old-vine parcels that yield exceptional regional character. Tyrrell's is internationally acclaimed for its benchmark Vat 1 Semillon, celebrated for its extraordinary longevity, as well as distinguished, elegant Hunter Valley Shiraz and sparkling wines.
