๐ท Vintage Profile
The 2010 growing season across Burgundy was defined by a severe winter, prolonged cold spring, and uneven flowering that significantly reduced overall crop loads through coulure and millerandage. A cool, damp summer elevated disease pressure, yet a crucial spell of dry north winds and warm sunshine from mid-September permitted late phenolic maturation while locking in exceptionally high natural acidity. The resulting wines exhibit classic structural tension, taut red-fruit purity, and chiseled tannins, marking 2010 as one of the Cรดte d'Or's modern benchmark classicist vintages. Entering optimal maturity in 2026, premier and grand cru parcels possess sufficient tensile acid-tannin architecture to evolve gracefully through 2035 to 2040.

๐พ About the Producer
Bodegas Vega Sicilia stands as Spain's undisputed viticultural grand cru, established in 1864 by Don Eloy Lecanda y Chaves and owned by the รlvarez family since 1982. Anchored along the banks of the Duero River in Valbuena de Duero, the estate spans roughly 1,000 hectares, with 210 hectares of vineyard plots situated at elevations of 700 to 800 meters. The terroir is defined by a complex mosaic of chalky limestone, alluvial gravel, and clay soils exposed to extreme diurnal temperature swings. Guided by viticultural director Enrique Macรญas and technical director Gonzalo Iturriaga de Juan, farming is conducted organically and sustainably, with strict dry farming and plot-by-plot harvesting. Winemaking is legendary for its patience: wines are aged for years across bespoke French and American oak coopered in-house, followed by extensive bottle cellarage. Benchmark expressions include the multi-vintage masterwork Reserva Especial, the venerable and long-lived flagship รnico, and the vibrant five-year-aged Valbuena 5ยฐ.
