Unlike the legendary Único, which waits a decade or more, Valbuena is released after a precise five-year aging cycle—hence the '5.°' in its name. This wine is a masterful expression of Tinto Fino (Tempranillo), traditionally complemented by a small percentage of Merlot, sourced from vines grown on gentle slopes of clay, limestone, and alluvial sediment along the Duero River. The aging process is a meticulous dance, transitioning the wine through new and used French and American oak barrels before finishing in large wooden vats and bottle. This vertical collection showcases the fascinating interplay of weather and time, revealing how different growing seasons shape the wine's signature profile of vibrant red fruit, refined spices, opulent structure, and seamless elegance.

Vega Sicilia blev grundlagt i 1864 af Don Eloy Lecanda y Chaves i Valbuena de Duero i den spanske region Ribera del Duero og regnes i dag blandt verdens absolut mest legendariske og ærefrygtindgydende vinhuse.
