Hailing from the rolling limestone hills of Charnay-les-Macon in the southern reaches of Burgundy, Verget's 'En Tremblay' is a masterful expression of pure Chardonnay. The 'En Tremblay' lieu-dit is celebrated for its clay-limestone soils, which impart a signature tension and stony minerality to the wine. Under the guidance of Maison Verget, the grapes are gently pressed and fermented primarily in stainless steel or concrete vats to preserve the vibrant, sun-drenched orchard fruit and citrus aromatics typical of the Maconnais. By aging the wine on its fine lees with minimal intervention, Verget coaxes out a beautiful, creamy texture that balances the wine's natural, electric acidity. This bottling perfectly captures the revolutionary spirit of the house, proving that village-level Maconnais can achieve a level of sophistication and energy that rivals its prestigious northern neighbors.

Maison Verget blev grundlagt i 1990 af den visionære belgiske vinmager Jean-Marie Guffens og hans hustru Maine Heynen i Sologny, beliggende i Mâconnais i det sydlige Bourgogne. Som en banebrydende négociant-éleveur revolutionerede huset vinproduktionen i Bourgogne med sine kompromisløse standarder for drueudvælgelse, skånsom horisontal presning samt præcis lagring på det fine bundfald med minimal brug af nyt egetræ. Verget er verdenskendt for sine rene, mineralske Chardonnay-vine fra førsteklasses terroirs i alt fra Mâconnais til Chablis og Côte d'Or, men mestrer også ekspressive Pinot Noir-vine og nytænkende fortolkninger fra det sydlige Frankrig.
