Maison Verget's Chablis Premier Cru Fourchaume 'Vaulorent' Vieilles Vignes is a masterclass in Chablisian tension and terroir expression. Vaulorent is a highly distinguished climat within the larger Fourchaume Premier Cru, uniquely situated on the same Kimmeridgian limestone hill as the Chablis Grand Crus, separated from Les Preuses only by a narrow path. This exceptional positioning gives it a Grand Cru-like power and mineral complexity. Crafted from old Chardonnay vines, Jean-Marie Guffens applies his signature precision to this cuvée, utilizing gentle pressing and aging primarily in stainless steel or concrete vats on fine lees to preserve the intense, stony minerality, vibrant acidity, and rich, textured mid-palate. Historically, Vaulorent has been whispered among Burgundy aficionados as the 'eighth Grand Cru' due to its pedigree and capacity for profound development.
