The name Grand Elevage refers to the extended and meticulous aging on fine lees, a signature Verget technique that coaxes out rich texture, creamy complexity, and striking mineral tension without relying on heavy new oak. Historically, Verget revolutionized the Maconnais by proving that these southern Burgundy terroirs could produce white wines of exceptional precision and longevity. Maison Verget blev grundlagt i 1990 af den visionære belgiske vinmager Jean-Marie Guffens og hans hustru Maine Heynen i Sologny, beliggende i Mâconnais i det sydlige Bourgogne. Som en banebrydende négociant-éleveur revolutionerede huset vinproduktionen i Bourgogne med sine kompromisløse standarder for drueudvælgelse, skånsom horisontal presning samt præcis lagring på det fine bundfald med minimal brug af nyt egetræ.
