True to Guffens' rebellious spirit and uncanny ability to spot hidden potential, this white Burgundy is made entirely from Chardonnay sourced from exceptional parcels that history or fashion temporarily left behind. By utilizing gentle pneumatic pressing, temperature-controlled fermentation, and aging in horizontal stainless steel or concrete vats with minimal oak intervention, Verget preserves the raw, crystalline purity of the fruit. Maison Verget was established in 1990 by visionary Belgian winemaker Jean-Marie Guffens and his wife Maine Heynen in Sologny, located in the Mâconnais region of southern Burgundy. Renowned as a trailblazing négociant-éleveur, the house revolutionized Burgundy winemaking by implementing uncompromising standards of fruit selection, gentle horizontal pressing, and precise maturation on fine lees with minimal oak intervention.
