✨ wine.spec_sheet

Hailing from the picturesque commune of Vergisson in the Macon region of Burgundy, La Vigne de Saint-Caude is a brilliant showcase of Maison Verget's mastery over Chardonnay. Grown on high-altitude, limestone-rich slopes beneath the shadow of the historic Roche de Vergisson, this cuvee benefits from a cool microclimate that preserves vibrant acidity. Winemaker Jean-Marie Guffens applies his signature minimalist intervention, fermenting and aging the wine primarily in concrete vats or stainless steel to emphasize the pure, chalky minerality and bright citrus profile of the terroir. The result is a white Burgundy of remarkable tension, energy, and focus, reflecting the ancient geological heritage of the region.

🍾 wine.about_producer

Founded in 1990 by the visionary winemaker Jean-Marie Guffens and his wife Maine, Maison Verget is a highly acclaimed negociant-eleveur based in Sologny within the Maconnais region of Burgundy, France. Renowned for revolutionizing white Burgundy production, the house focuses on highlighting the distinct micro-terroirs of the region, from Macon and Chablis to the Cote d'Or, alongside select ventures in the Vaucluse. By employing precise pressing techniques, custom oak and concrete aging regimens, and minimal intervention, Verget crafts expressive, mineral-driven Chardonnay and elegant Pinot Noir. Their signature expressions, such as the Grand Elevage and various single-vineyard bottlings, are celebrated globally for their tension, purity, and exceptional value.
