Hailing from one of the most prestigious climats in Chablis, the Vaulorent vineyard enjoys a legendary reputation. It is the only Premier Cru situated on the actual Grand Cru hill, sharing the same Kimmeridgian limestone soils and prized southwest exposure as its immediate neighbor, Les Preuses. Maison Verget crafts this 100% Chardonnay to showcase the unique tension and power of this exceptional terroir. The winemaking philosophy emphasizes purity and minimal intervention, utilizing gentle pressing and aging on fine lees in a combination of stainless steel and neutral oak. Established in 1990 by Flemish iconoclast Jean-Marie Guffens and Maine Heynen, Maison Verget fundamentally revolutionized Burgundian négociant conventions. Rather than purchasing unfermented must or finished bulk wine, Guffens partnered with select growers across the Mâconnais, Côte d'Or, and Chablis to hand-harvest immaculate whole clusters directly. Headquartered in Sologny, the cellar operates in synergy with Guffens' artisanal domaine holdings, with winemaking spearheaded alongside Julien Desplans since 2006.
