The Tradition Pinot Gris from Cave du Vieil-Armand showcases the rich heritage of the southernmost cooperative in Alsace, situated near the historic Hartmannswillerkopf battlefield. This wine is deeply tied to local folklore, particularly the legend of General Lazarus von Schwendi, who supposedly brought Pinot Gris vines back from Hungary in the 16th century, leading to its historical moniker 'Tokay d'Alsace.' Grown on the warm, sheltered slopes of southern Alsace, where granite and silt soils dominate, this Pinot Gris benefits from a unique microclimate that coaxes out both opulent fruit and structural acidity. The winemakers employ traditional cool fermentation in stainless steel tanks to preserve the grape's natural richness, resulting in a wine characterized by notes of ripe pear, yellow peach, and a signature hint of smoky complexity.

Cave du Vieil-Armand blev grundlagt i 1958 for foden af den historiske Hartmannswillerkopf-høj – kendt på fransk som Vieil Armand – og er et anerkendt kooperativ beliggende i den sydalsassiske landsby Wuenheim. Huset trækker på en enestående mosaik af terroirs, herunder de historiske vinmarker ved Château d'Ollwiller, og samler passionerede lokale vinbønder med en fælles dedikation til autentisk regionalt håndværk og bæredygtig vindyrkning.
