Hailing from the prestigious Southern Valleys of Marlborough, New Zealand, the Villa Maria Attorney Pinot Noir is a distinguished single-vineyard expression that showcases the unique terroir of the region. The vineyard itself is named in honor of a historic local attorney who once owned this pristine parcel of land. Unlike the gravelly soils of the northern Wairau Valley, the Attorney Vineyard is characterized by dense, clay-rich soils that impart a signature structural depth, concentrated dark fruit profile, and savory complexity to the Pinot Noir grape. Villa Maria, founded by wine pioneer Sir George Fistonich in 1961, meticulously crafts this wine using traditional techniques, including open-top fermentation and aging in French oak barriques. The result is an elegant, deeply expressive red wine that weaves together ripe dark cherry, wild thyme, and subtle earthy undertones, reflecting Marlborough's cooler climate and rich viticultural heritage.

Villa Maria blev grundlagt i 1961 af Sir George Fistonich og har udviklet sig fra en beskeden, lejet parcel på to hektar i Māngere, Auckland, til en af New Zealands mest toneangivende vininstitutioner. Vingården blev overtaget af Indevin Group i 2021 og viderefører sit stolte virke med stor regional og stilistisk spændvidde, hvor druematerialet hentes fra fremragende mikroklimaer i Marlborough, Hawke's Bay, Gisborne og Auckland. Markarbejdet tager afsæt i en dyb respekt for miljøet, og huset er grundlæggende medlem af Sustainable Winegrowing New Zealand, hvilket suppleres af dedikerede økologiske parceller.
