✨ Technical Specifications
Grown across rolling limestone and loess-loam parcels in Rheinhessen, this cuvée combines Bordeaux varieties Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. Following temperature-controlled fermentation with extended maceration to extract color and structural tannins, the wine undergoes maturation in traditional oak barriques. The resulting cuvée displays dense dark fruit layers, structured wood integration, and firm acidity characteristic of cool-climate Atlantic-influenced German viticulture, coupled with an explicit socio-political statement of openness on its label.
🍾 About the Producer
Weingut Hauck (also known as Weinhaus Hauck) traces its family viticultural roots back to 1727 in Bermersheim vor der Höhe, the historical birthplace of St. Hildegard of Bingen in Rheinhessen. Dedicated entirely to estate bottling since 2000, the property is steered by winemaker Dr. Jana Hauck alongside her parents, Heinz-Günter and Heike Hauck. The estate manages roughly 30 hectares of vines across diverse crus in Bermersheim, Albig, and Ensheim, where vineyards are shaped by rolling hills and soils of limestone, marl, and loess-loam. Farming is close-to-nature and sustainable, utilizing cover crops to enhance humus formation and soil vitality, with cellar facilities powered by solar energy. In the cellar, temperature-controlled stainless steel vinification preserves varietal purity, complemented by traditional barrel and barrique aging for structured reds. While classic Pinot varieties and Riesling form the backbone of the portfolio, the estate is notably celebrated for its expressive barrique-aged red blend, the 'Kein Wein den Faschisten' Merlot-Cabernet Sauvignon.
