Perched at the highest elevation of the legendary Rüdesheimer Berg, the Kaisersteinfels vineyard is a site of extreme viticulture. Sitting up to 250 meters above the Rhine, this steep, terraced grand cru site is defined by its unique soil composition of weathered Taunus quartzite and red slate. Johannes Leitz painstakingly recultivated these historic, high-altitude terraces, which had been largely abandoned due to the grueling manual labor required to farm them. The cooling winds at this elevation slow the ripening process, allowing the Riesling grapes to develop complex aromatic profiles while retaining a vibrant, laser-like acidity. Crafted as a Grosses Gewächs (GG), this dry Riesling is fermented with wild yeasts and aged on its fine lees, resulting in a wine of immense structural tension, crystalline minerality, and wild herbal complexity.

With family viticultural heritage in Rüdesheim tracing back to 1744, Weingut Leitz began a dynamic modern era when Johannes Leitz took helm of the family estate in 1985.
