The Rüdesheimer Berg Roseneck 'Katerloch' is one of the crown jewels of Weingut Leitz's portfolio, sourced from an exceptional, steep parcel within the grand cru Berg Roseneck vineyard. The name 'Katerloch' (literally 'cat's hole') refers to a historic, sheltered depression in the hillside that acts as a natural sun trap, protecting the vines from cold northern winds while maximizing solar exposure. This unique microclimate, combined with a soil profile dominated by decomposed Taunus quartzite and dark slate, yields a dry Riesling of extraordinary power, structure, and mineral intensity. Johannes Leitz's meticulous, low-intervention approach in the cellar allows this extreme terroir to express itself fully, resulting in a wine that beautifully balances vibrant, citrusy acidity with a deep, smoky minerality and rich stone fruit character.

With family viticultural heritage in Rüdesheim tracing back to 1744, Weingut Leitz began a dynamic modern era when Johannes Leitz took helm of the family estate in 1985.
