The name 'Katerloch' (literally 'cat's hole') refers to a historic, sheltered depression in the hillside that acts as a natural sun trap, protecting the vines from cold northern winds while maximizing solar exposure. This unique microclimate, combined with a soil profile dominated by decomposed Taunus quartzite and dark slate, yields a dry Riesling of extraordinary power, structure, and mineral intensity.
