The Rüdesheimer Berg Rottland vineyard sits on the steep, sun-drenched slopes at the western edge of the Rheingau, where the Rhine River makes a dramatic bend. The name 'Rottland' derives from the German word 'roden' (to clear land), referencing the medieval reclamation of these steep forest hillsides for viticulture. This grand cru site is characterized by weathered slate, quartzite, and gravel soils that store warmth during the day and radiate it back to the vines at night. The 'Goldkapsel' (Gold Capsule) designation signifies an Auslese of extraordinary selection, crafted from highly concentrated, botrytized grapes. Weingut Leitz meticulously hand-harvests these precious berries to produce a sweet wine of legendary complexity, balancing luscious, honeyed richness with the vibrant, mineral-driven acidity that defines the Rheingau's finest terroirs.

Weingut Leitz, located in the historic town of Rüdesheim am Rhein in Germany's Rheingau region, traces its winemaking heritage back to 1744. Under the visionary leadership of Johannes Leitz, who took over the family estate in 1985, the winery has earned international acclaim for its exceptional, terroir-driven Rieslings.
