The Rüdesheimer Berg Rottland vineyard is steeped in history, with its name deriving from the old German word 'roden' or 'reuten', referring to the clearing of forest land for viticulture dating back to the 11th century. Situated on the steep, sun-drenched slopes of the Rheingau overlooking the Rhine River, this vineyard benefit from a unique microclimate where the water acts as a mirror, reflecting sunlight and heat back onto the vines. The soils here are a complex mix of slate, quartzite, and gravel, which absorb heat during the day and radiate it back at night. Weingut Leitz crafts this Spätlese to capture the perfect harmony of natural residual sweetness and electric, vibrant acidity. The wine is celebrated for its rich texture, showcasing luscious stone fruit and exotic citrus notes, all underpinned by a profound, smoky, and flinty minerality characteristic of this legendary terroir.
