The Rüdesheimer Berg Schlossberg is legendary, situated on the breathtakingly steep, south-facing slopes of the Rheingau where the Rhine River makes a dramatic bend. Named after the historic ruins of Burg Ehrenfels that overlook the vines, this grand cru vineyard features extreme slopes of up to 70% gradient, composed of slate, quartzite, and gravel. This unique terroir acts as a solar radiator, absorbing heat by day and releasing it at night, while the river reflects sunlight directly onto the vines. Weingut Leitz harnesses this dramatic landscape to produce a Riesling Spätlese of extraordinary tension. The late-harvested grapes develop rich, concentrated stone fruit flavors balanced by a striking, crystalline minerality and vibrant acidity, representing the pinnacle of traditional Rheingau winemaking.

Weingut Leitz, located in the historic town of Rüdesheim am Rhein in Germany's Rheingau region, traces its winemaking heritage back to 1744. Under the visionary leadership of Johannes Leitz, who took over the family estate in 1985, the winery has earned international acclaim for its exceptional, terroir-driven Rieslings. The estate meticulously manages some of the Rheingau's most prestigious steep-slope grand cru vineyards, including Rüdesheimer Berg Schlossberg, Berg Rottland, and Berg Roseneck. Renowned for their remarkable purity, vibrant acidity, and deep minerality, Leitz's wines range from bone-dry expressions to luscious, noble sweet Beerenauslese and Trockenbeerenauslese, alongside a pioneering range of premium non-alcoholic wines.
