Named after a historic red sandstone cross dedicated to Mary Magdalene that stands among the vines, the Rüdesheimer Magdalenenkreuz—affectionately known to many as 'Maggie'—is one of the Rheingau's most cherished sites. The vineyard's terroir is characterized by deep, fertile soils of loess, loam, and weathered quartzite. These soils warm up quickly and retain moisture beautifully, allowing the Riesling grapes to achieve optimal ripeness while preserving their vibrant, electric acidity. Weingut Leitz crafts this Kabinett to highlight the delicate, off-dry play between luscious stone fruit flavors, like white peach and nectarine, and a stony, saline minerality.
