✨ Technical Specifications
Situated in the heart of the Rheingau, the Rüdesheimer Rosengarten is a historic vineyard site whose name historically evokes the wild roses that once bloomed along the medieval garden walls of Rüdesheim. Weingut Leitz's Grosses Gewächs (GG) expression from this Grand Cru site highlights a unique terroir. Unlike the sheer, slate-dominated cliffs of the neighboring Berg Schlossberg, the Rosengarten features a gentler slope with deep, fertile soils composed of loess, loam, and gravelly quartzite. This distinct soil composition retains moisture and warmth, yielding a Riesling of remarkable power, generous stone fruit aromas, and a broader, more opulent texture, balanced by a fine, crystalline minerality. Crafted in accordance with strict VDP Grosses Gewächs standards, the grapes are hand-harvested at optimal ripeness and fermented dry, showcasing the majestic complexity and age-worthy structure that defines the pinnacle of dry Rheingau Riesling.
🍾 About the Producer
With family viticultural heritage in Rüdesheim tracing back to 1744, Weingut Leitz began a dynamic modern era when Johannes Leitz took helm of the family estate in 1985. Through uncompromising dedication to quality, he transformed a modest 2.9-hectare holding into an internationally celebrated powerhouse focused on prime steep-slope parcels across the Rüdesheimer Berg, including iconic grand cru sites such as Berg Schlossberg, Berg Roseneck, and Berg Rottland. The estate's philosophy emphasizes meticulous vineyard stewardship and gentle cellar intervention to capture the slate- and quartzite-rich terroir with absolute purity and energy. Weingut Leitz is globally acclaimed for its multifaceted range of Rieslings, spanning razor-sharp dry single-vineyard bottlings, luxurious noble sweet Trockenbeerenauslese and Eiswein expressions, as well as refined Pinot Noirs and sparkling wines.
