✨ Technical Specifications
Perched at a breathtaking altitude of up to 650 meters, Ried Hochkittenberg is one of the highest and coolest vineyard sites in Southern Styria. This extreme elevation, combined with complex soils of red gravel, shale, and weathered limestone, provides the perfect stage for Gelber Muskateller—one of the world's oldest and most aromatic grape varieties. While Muskateller is often misunderstood as a simple, sweet aperitif, Weingut Tement elevates it to a serious, terroir-driven art form. Under their biodynamic stewardship, the grapes are hand-harvested and spontaneously fermented, resulting in a bone-dry, highly structured wine. It weaves a fascinating tale of alpine freshness, vibrant herbal spice, and intense mineral tension, far removed from ordinary expressions of the grape.
🍾 About the Producer
Founded in 1959, Weingut Tement is a benchmark family-owned estate situated on the steep, dramatic hills of Südsteiermark along the Austrian-Slovenian border. Propelled to international renown under Manfred Tement and now steered by sons Armin and Stefan Tement, the winery practices certified biodynamic viticulture across mineral-rich limestone and coralline limestone soils. Renowned for their precision, longevity, and profound terroir expression, the estate specializes in world-class Sauvignon Blanc and Morillon (Chardonnay), with iconic single-vineyard bottlings hailing from top cru sites such as Ried Zieregg and Ried Grassnitzberg.
