Perched at an impressive elevation of up to 650 meters, Ried Hochkittenberg is one of the highest and coolest single-vineyard sites in Southern Styria. This extreme altitude, combined with steep slopes and a complex terroir of red gravel, clay, and shell limestone, provides a unique microclimate where grapes ripen slowly while retaining brilliant acidity. Weingut Tement cultivates this challenging site using strict biodynamic methods. Their Weisser Burgunder (Pinot Blanc) from Hochkittenberg is crafted with minimal intervention, undergoing spontaneous fermentation and extensive aging on the fine lees in neutral oak casks. This traditional approach coaxes out a beautifully textured wine that balances delicate orchard fruit notes with a profound, salty minerality and vibrant tension, reflecting the wild, wind-swept heights of its alpine-influenced origin.
