✨ Technical Specifications
Hailing from the steep, sun-drenched amphitheater of the Ried Sernau König vineyard, this exceptional Sauvignon Blanc represents one of Weingut Tement's most prestigious single-vineyard expressions. The name 'König' (King) pays homage to the majestic stature of this historic hill in Southern Styria. Unlike the limestone-dominated soils of Zieregg, Sernau is defined by its unique terroir of weathered primary rock, quartz sand, and gravel. This distinct soil composition, combined with a cool alpine-mediterranean microclimate, imparts a profound mineral tension, saline depth, and delicate smoky complexity to the wine. Crafted under strict biodynamic principles, the grapes are hand-harvested, spontaneously fermented, and matured on the fine lees in neutral oak casks for up to 24 months, resulting in a wine of incredible purity, structure, and terroir-driven character.
🍾 About the Producer
Founded in 1959, Weingut Tement is a benchmark family-owned estate situated on the steep, dramatic hills of Südsteiermark along the Austrian-Slovenian border. Propelled to international renown under Manfred Tement and now steered by sons Armin and Stefan Tement, the winery practices certified biodynamic viticulture across mineral-rich limestone and coralline limestone soils. Renowned for their precision, longevity, and profound terroir expression, the estate specializes in world-class Sauvignon Blanc and Morillon (Chardonnay), with iconic single-vineyard bottlings hailing from top cru sites such as Ried Zieregg and Ried Grassnitzberg.
