Weingut Vollenweider's 'Goldgrube Aurum' is the crown jewel of the estate, a rare and majestic sweet Riesling sourced from the historic, steep slopes of the Wolfer Goldgrube. The vineyard's name, meaning 'golden grave,' hints at both the arduous labor required to cultivate its sheer slate terraces and the legendary liquid gold it yields. Crafted from ancient, ungrafted Riesling vines, 'Aurum' (Latin for gold) is produced only in exceptional vintages when noble rot develops perfectly. The winemaking process is defined by uncompromising manual selection, gentle pressing, and slow fermentation, resulting in a wine of extraordinary concentration. It beautifully balances luscious, honeyed sweetness with the electric, mineral-driven acidity characteristic of the Mosel's blue slate soils.

Founded in 1999 by Swiss native Daniel Vollenweider, Weingut Vollenweider is based in Traben-Trarbach in Germany's celebrated Mosel valley. Without family land or inherited infrastructure, Vollenweider dedicated himself to reviving neglected, century-old ungrafted vines clinging to the dramatic, slate-rich amphitheater of the Wolfer Goldgrube. Through meticulous, hands-on cultivation of these extreme steep slopes and traditional, low-intervention cellar work, the estate became a beacon of pure Mosel expression. Today, Weingut Vollenweider is internationally revered for its crystalline, mineral-laden Rieslings, particularly its legendary, highly collectible Auslese and Goldkapsel dessert wines.
